Holiday Treats for Tots!

Ofcourse we want to be the best parent possible, and what could be better than laying down the basics for a life of healthy eating?

"Eat your vegetables!" This classic line is one that most parents are familiar with. Learn hassle free techniques for expanding the picky eater's palette.

Finding foods that are healthy, and that young ones will eat, can be tricky.
Young children are often very particular when it comes to eating certain foods. Parents must think of ways to help their little ones overcome this. Yay! (^_*)

And here is Holiday season! I smell it and it's just around the corner! My kids smell it too! Do you??
The smell of freshly baked cookies and the holidays seem to go together.
Part of the fun of the holiday season is spending time with your family, and there’s no better way to spend quality time with your loved ones than baking up some tasty holiday treats together! These recipe is so fun, easy, and super fun for kids!

I called it....

Milkylicious and Cheesylicious Veggie Tarts

INGREDIENTS:
1 sheet ready-rolled
shortcrust pastry
1/2 small (65g) tomato,
removed the seeds & chopped finely
1/2 small (35g) carrot,
chopped finely
1/2 small (45g)chayote,
chopped finely
parsely, finely chopped
2-3 pcs. of hotdogs
2 tablespoons frozen peas, thawed
2/3 cup (80g) finely grated
cheddarcheese
1/2 can of evap milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
4 gloves of garlic, finely chopped
butter or star margarine

PREPARATION:
1.) Cut pastry into nine 7.5cm oblongs or rounds; press pastry rounds into holes of oiled shallow patty pan, prick well with skewer or fork.

2.) Bake in moderately hot oven about 15 minutes or until browned lightly.

3.) Meanwhile, slightly sauté garlic and onion in butter then add tomato, carrot, chayote,peas, hotdog; add the parsely then divide mixture among pastry cases, sprinkle cheese over top of each.

4.) Bake tarts in moderate oven about 10 minutes or until cheese melts.

MAKES 9

PREPARATION TIME- 45 mins.

STORAGE: Covered in refrigerator, up to 1 day.

NOTES: Can also add corn kernels, and raisins to add sweets on the tarts.

TIPS:
* Find a small, safe task that will involve the child in the meal preparation. If she has had a hand in the preparation, she might be more inclined to eat it.
Like me, I let my kids plant and harvest vegetables in our garden/backyard.

* Holiday seasoon is colorful, right! Kids loves colorful and sweet foods!
To make it healthy, instead of sweets used colorful vegetables and chopped it in small sizes or in different shapes.
Then add raisins and corn kernels to add sweetness!

* For the milk, can use the powdered milk of our little tots as best substitute!

* Pwede ring pang baon sa school! At pang give away di ba??^^

For me as a Mom, the best things to do is to enjoy quality time with my children, a time with my kids at the park, enjoying the view and exploring them the beauty of nature! An ideal instance of the way you might do this is as simple as spending a day every week along with your family members at the park.
You don’t need to perform something that is particularly extravagant to be able to
appreciate a time like that. Just getting out into the sunshine and fresh air!
Your child will benefit from the time out in the air, and you’ll benefit
from the time too.
When kids throw themselves into the natural world, through nature activities, then they will know what, how and why they have to care.

This year I'll make sure to have a great ADVENTURE with my kids...

Having Chooks with my KaChooks!

Me and family started liking Chooks To Go on our first taste.
From that day onwards, we always choose Chooks To Go anytime, anywhere and in every family occasions we wanted to buy a whole chicken and good thing that they have a branch near our place.
It only cost same as other lechon manok store but really we love the taste of Chooks kasi "Masarap kahit walang sauce!"

Naalala ko tuloy, ng minsang gabi na pero di pa kami makatulog ng kids kasi hinihintay namin dumating si Daddy(my hubby). Sabi nya may sorpresa daw syang dala na pasalubong para sa amin at tiyak na matutuwa ang mga bata! 'Ano kaya un??'☻ Excited naman kami syempre!

Andyan ng manood kami ng TV ng mga bata, magkwentuhan, maglaro at kulang nalang mag tamblingan na sa kakahintay sa Daddy nila pero 'hello' asan na sya?? Ang tagal!
Hanggang sa ♪beep..beep..♪ (tumunog ang cellphone...may nagtxt!)
"Sorry Honey,pakisabi sa kids na traffic ako!"
waaaaa!!!!!! Gutom na kami no! Ikaw ng makipaglaro sa 2 bulilit na makulit!?
Pero teka, ang tanong??? Pagkain ba pasalubong na dala nya?? toinkz!!!

Maya't maya humingi ng makakain ang 2 makulit... Nagutom na sa kakalaro at kakahintay sa Daddy nila. Pero dahil gabi na at wala ng mailuto pa e mag dilata nalang kami...
Nang.......... ♫ ding! dong! ♫ "Ayan na sya!!!!"

Sabay bungad ng---- "Wow! CHOOKS TO GO!" 'yey!!!'

Masarap syang papakin, iulam sa kanin, o kahit walang sauce!
Amo'y pa lang e talagang matatakam ka na sa lasa!
Kahit may natira pa at konting painit lang kinabukasan ay masarap pa rin pang umagahan!
Mapa tanghalian man o hapunan o kahit mirienda ay the best talaga ang Chooks to Go's Oven Roasted Chicken! =)

So we ended up eating a NAPAKAPAKAPAKASARAP na hapunan (LOOK AT THE CHICKEN BONES BELOW!hehe)

DRESSING & DIAPERING
-> Skip fragranced laundry detergent that might irritate his skin and make sure to purchase fragrance-free diapers in a size. Also, change your baby's diaper immediately after it has become soiled. The wetness can cause chaffing, which leads to dry skin.

BATH TIME
-> Babies need two to three baths a week in warm -- not hot -- water to stay clean.

BE MINDFUL OF PRODUCTS
-> It's best to use skin-care products made especially for babies, such as fragrance-free and tear-free shampoos, bath gels, and lotions. With each one you use, be watchful of Baby's reaction in case he is allergic.
So, what brand you trust for your baby's skin?
Me?

Cetaphil products are gentle enough to use on babies, as a cleanser for baby's skin and hair, as well as a moisturizer. How I’d love to dance again

He’s the disciplinarian in the family. When we were little we used to fear him a lot because he was very strict when it comes to coming home straight from school; our church duties and responsibilities, and even to our childhood crushes.

This person has taught me, guided me and instilled wisdom in me my entire life.
He has been the driving force behind my academic achievement. Everything I have been able to accomplish with regards to school and even in my personal life, I have him to thank for.
This person means the world to me; he is my one and only father, my "Tatay", my Hero.

I am a daughter of a Minister of Church. I grew up in a pressure situation where I was expected to look and act in a certain manner, and always had to put on a smile. But my Tatay serve as my best friend and taught me to love God first and foremost.

He taught me never to give up, that I should always go for what I want and to never stop trying.
Though Tatay has suffered a mild stroke about 3 months, he never failed to call me and my siblings everyday as what he usually do, just to check us, sending us text messages and MMS pictures and trying his way to check us online via net, that’s why sometime we call him our “Techie Dad!”

No matter how far I am from Tatay, I will forever be Tatay’s little girl.

As the song ‘To Dance with my Father again’ :

I just want to write this and let you know some things that other people should know and you should know too... Someone who is a HERO for me. He's always been my hero since I was a little girl.

He’s the disciplinarian in the family. This man is so masculine, so strong looking you dare not approach him. As he approaches, he bestows upon you aggressive behavior; however, he then surprises you with the most beautiful smile and friendliest personality you have ever seen. This is the true essence of my father, a man not only misunderstood by society because of his appearance, but also his tone.

This person has taught me, guided me and instilled wisdom in me my entire life.
He is whom I look up to with loving trust and pride. With a willing hand to lend, he is a helper, an adviser and my partner in crime.
He has been the driving force behind my academic achievement. Everything I have been able to accomplish with regards to school and even in my personal life, I have him to thank for.
This person means the world to me, so who is this influential person in my life? He is my one and only father, my "Tatay".

But my Tatay serve as my best friend and taught me not to be pressure and enjoy each day of my life. My parents taught me to love God first and foremost.

He taught me never to give up and to go for what’s out there. That I should always go for what I want and to never stop trying, to always stay firm and have grip on what’s my every day goal. He has advised me to notice what I’m doing and if I’m doing it the right way.

Now I am like a ‘mom’ to Tatay now, scolding him when he misses his medicine or always reminding him to stay away from fatty food. He’s doing great if I may say so because he listens to me. No matter how far I am from tatay, I will forever be Tatay’s little girl.

Thank you for your examples, your wisdom, your patience, your guidance, your devotion, your sacrifices, your endless support, your laughter and most importantly, your love.

P.S. Thanks for the everyday call, for always checking if your baby girl before is a good mother to your 2 pretty granddaughters..haha

As summer approaches the idea of relaxation is key. Watching the sun set, swinging from a rope, and waiting for falling stars is the vision but when the agenda dominates it may be time to pull out some magical ways to simplify and bring on the “ahhh” factor.

How will you spice up your summer?

On my wedding day, Feb. 26, 2005, I received the best gift for a new bride. I will never forget that day my dad gave me Book of Tips by Julio F. Silverio, the best gift I ever received on that special day of my life.

When I asked him, “Dad, what is this?”

He answered, “Today is the most important day in your life. I want you to look at your best on this blessed day and this book may serve as your guide as you walk into a new chapter of your life.”

When I opened the gift, I was surprised that the book my dad gave me was the book I had always borrowed from him every time I had a project in school or to inspire me in my everyday life, especially during my school and teen days.

The book, published by National Book Store in 1981, was also a gift to my dad from his friend way back 1982, the year I was born. It’s been 28 years since, and the book has gone from my dad to me and I will pass it on to my kids at the right time.

It seems that books have always been in our lives. They are very important and helpful in a variety of situations; they broaden the mind and give knowledge about the world. Of course, they do not only inform but also protect us from boredom.

I am fond of reading books. I have read a good number of novels, dramas, short stories and poems. Some books may be good from one point of view, another one may be good from some other point of view. Book of Tips is one that’s good in numerous ways. It may not have a main character but it is I who is in the lead role to interpret each tip that will guide me to success.

Book of Tips is a compilation of tips for any scenario — ambition, baby care, parenthood, self-confidence, self-power and etiquettes to name a few.

It really helped me. A lot of tips, information and principles will change your points of view in life. Every topic or tip is helpful and inspirational.

Some tips I applied in my life after my wedding are:

• Marriage (Tips for becoming a good wife)

• Baby care (Tips on proper breastfeeding and its importance)

• Cooking (Tips on good cooking)

• Decision making (How to make effective decisions in life)

• Self-appreciation (Appreciate others to have them appreciate you)

And more tips to help us in reality. The book is always with me, at my computer/study table, and I bring it also on important family events or trips.

This book is my guide, a friend at my side.

Can you imagine a world without books? I can’t. To imagine a world without books is to imagine a world without thought. A world without feeling, compassion, history, or voice.

And the Book of Tips by Julio F. Silverio is my book of comfort, my shelter; my bridge and through its pages it has brought me into success.

Thanks to my dad for this book. This book reflects his unconditional love and support for me — for he trusted me with it.

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’.
Aw, c’mon… It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe...

A MOTHER'S NEW YEARS RESOLUTION FOR 2011

Everyone likes to create New Year’s resolutions, but not many keep them throughout the year. If before I admit, I do not prioritize for it, now many women make new years resolutions after they become a Mom, and this is because they have responsibilities. So when I became a mother I want to make changes for my children.

If some Moms prefer to do things to treat themselves; such as visiting a spa or getting a massage, or to loose weight and a make over...
Me? I want to do things with my children and enjoy quality time with them.

Success and failure, happiness and sadness, excitement and fear are some of the feelings or emotions with behind stories a Mother like me experienced this year.

Now the year is ending. I wonder what the next will bring.
It will be another grand mixture of laughter and tears, messes and precious moments with my 2 precious girls.
This year achievements-- is they are well potty trained, boos are manageable and oh they can help me to clean their mess in their own little way but fun!

Their great milestone this year is their first time in school; I discovered my eldest daughter as a future Fashion Model and my youngest daughter a future Multi-talented Diva.
Oh! I am sure next year will bring more of those funs and discover hidden talents!

Years go by too fast and every Mother’s knows that.
If I can only hold time for I don't remember giving my daughters permission to grow up, but they are doing it anyway. Oooohhh yah!

Tomorrow always comes, whether we want it to or not, and today is never yesterday.
Live life to the fullest! Savor each moment of the present, because it will too soon be past.
I don't know what exactly the future holds, but we will face it together as we have always done,for I know who holds our future.
In times of grief and sorrow we will hold each other. We will come out stronger with even more laughter in our hearts.

That is my New Year's Resolution:
TO ENDURE, TO PROSPER and TO KEEP LAUGHTER ALIVE...with my Family and for all families!

In my teen days I always had a long straight hair as my hairstyle.

I am proud to say that I am a eco-parent! A parent who commits in allowing and encouraging her kids to play outside and enjoy nature. My goal is to take my children outside everyday,for them to learn what nature is,its importance and how to value it.

I always make sure that every weekend- wherein No work, we go outside as a FAMILY and we most prepare to go in a nature trip, just a simple outing as a family.

I want to share one of our Family Day (just last Saturday) at the Tuguegarao Recom Site where we loved and enjoyed the fresh air and view. A very nature quite place.

And with this, I prepared a simple BAON for us.
It's a BINALOT- kanin with longganisa, danggit, hotdog and itlog na pula with kamatis. Mmmmnnn...sarap!

I love to cook for my family and as a Mom and wife I always find ways to prepare a recipe that is new in their taste and most of all a healthy food!

Need Help from Sunsilk Hair Experts

In my teen days I always had this long straight hair as my hairstyle.
I only trust one brand and it's only SUNSILK SHAMPOO.

I'm afraid I might be looking old in my age because of my hair.

I deeply care about God, my family, and my country. Because I care about those things, I care about prayer and I want to grow that part of my life.

“God is my best friend and His words is my sword through success” – My personal Motto since my school days from Elementary to Tertiary and until now this serves as my aphorism or pledge in life.

If someone asks me from where I am or when answering a data or form asking for my address, sometimes I tend to answer that I am a “NPA”- meaning
“No Permanent Address”. I am a daughter of a Church Minister, where we all know that they may like a soldier where they are assigned into different places as a call of their duties.
The difference is we are transferred into different places as a “family”. So, it’s our responsibility to be with our father wherever he is assigned for as long as we don’t have our own family.

I am blessed to be a daughter of a Church Minister. Yet, I grew up in a pressure situation where I was expected to look and act in a certain manner, and always had to put on a smile.
But my Mom taught me not to be pressured and enjoy each day of my life. My parents taught me to love God first and foremost.
For me of all the values they taught me, “PRAYER” is the best!

At young age, my parents taught me how to pray and the importance of it.
From the time I wake up in the morning, before each meal, before I and my siblings go to school, before a sweet good night and for each important situation wherein prayer’s is the best weapon not just to ask something but to thank Him for all the blessings He gave to us.

I believe in the power of prayers!
In this world, people are confronted with myriad choices everyday- what to buy, what to wear, where to go, what to eat and whom to be with.

TEENAGE LIFE
Being a teenager is hard, filled with stress and pressure.
One of the greatest sources of pressure is school.
At this stage of my life, I find it challenging and at the same time I find it hard especially in my study. Since we are transferring into different places, it’s hard for me to transfer into different schools, for it’s another new place, new environment and need to maintain my good records in academic.
Another great source of pressure is ourselves. We try our hardest to be accepted among a certain group or circle. Whereas most of the time we are rejected and we become depressed and again I have to be a good role model not just to my siblings and also to others since I’m bringing my dad’s reputation.

IN SEARCH OF MY LIFE
This is the moment in my life where I want to look and find for myself. A moment where curiosity arises, who really am I, what I want to be, what my role in life is.
I prefer to leave my parents after college days and moved to another place where I want to live life on my own. I work…
I want to prove to myself especially to my parents that I am now ready to face the challenges of life, all by myself.
Wherein the prime necessities of man in this life are food, shelter, and clothing, but among these three,
FOOD is regarded by many as the most important.
I remember I only have some cents in my pocket before the payroll again.
If before no need to worry for my clothes and for my food, at this stage I must be contented on what I have.
Looking back on my childhood, I realize how lucky I was to be blessed with the family I have. Knowing what I know now, I have come to understand that not every kid had the same life that I had.

What I have learned on my life journey is that life does not always turn out the way we imagine or dream. I have had many deep valleys in my lifetime.
There were days I did not know I would be where I am today.

LOVE OF MY LIFE
I am blessed with the love of my parents, my siblings, my family and friends, love of having a professional work but there is something missing.
Love is the strongest feeling there is. Love can only be expressed and discovered, and when that happens, all the great things come along with it.
The bond that brings man and woman together is among the strongest of them all.
Finally, I found the missing part of my life. I thought it completed me…
But the moment I felt those first fluttering of life within me and heard my child's beating heart for the first time- a Mother’s Love is something that no one can explain, It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain.
In a couple no matter how compatible you are together, there will always be certain issues and relationship problems that will arise that must be addressed and resolved.
I thought that moment is the end of everything! I’ve sacrifice a lot and gave everything not just because for my family but because I love them.
Strong healthy relationships don’t just happen; they are built on knowledge, compromise and sharing.

For many years I searched for “my dharma” - my mission in life, PRAYER’S serve as my way of communication to my dear Father, our Almighty God.
In God’s plan nothing is wasted. Even that which seems lost, is not. Even that which seems unimportant, is not. God always gives us more than we need and many paths to choose from. In this life there are difficult choices and life-changing ones. The choices we make today can determine our future. They speak volume, about us.

Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards.

Getting our baby or toddler to sleep through the night can be one of the most difficult experiences of parenthood.

"Our bedtime ritual consists of a warm bath in which I let them play.
Having a bath at day and night together is a happy and learning time moment
especially brushing our teeth together while singing(in a tune of Row Row Row Your Boat):

and even in between!

It's a fun bonding moments together that kids enjoyed a lot!

A Fun-Friendly Toothbrush for our Kids

I have two girls.
Amber Chloe is 5 yrs and 1 month and
Princess Aven is 4 yrs and 2 months.

Since birth, I make sure to prioritize their oral hygiene, even without no teeth yet it’s important to begin taking care of an infant’s gums shortly after birth through running a damp washcloth over your baby's gums.

Now as a Mom of a two toddler I know how hard it can be to get your child to brush his/hers teeth every day and for as long as needed. We have gone trough many excuses on why Princess doesn’t feel like it.

What I did is I let my kids to pick out the supplies. There are lots of fun character toothbrushes and toothpastes on the market. Escort my kids to the store, and have them pick out their favorite.

Make it a family affair. I brush my teeth alongside my kids, and to make it more fun sometimes we do it at the front of the mirror. Sometimes, when their dad is at home early we do it as a family, that serve as our bonding moments.

Stick to a schedule. Kids like routine, so set regular teeth brushing times, and stick to them. Before long, it'll just become a part of their day.

Another thing that make my kids fun in brushing their teeth is sing (row row row your boat)

What I’ve realized is that as with everything else children need to be interested. The task itself has to be fun.

Since my kids love to brush their teeth, it's really not hard to convince or force them. However, we've been into different brands of toothbrush! My Auntie Dina was a great figure throughout my childhood and adolescence — I’ll always remember her for her energy, for being so fun, for being someone I could always talk to, for being such a good person. Really … I’ve rarely known someone as good at heart as her, all the love she gave to me and the rest of the family.

My auntie is a spinster or old maid.
They are only two girl's in nine siblings, she and my Mom.
She is the eldest, the one who took care of our grand parents till their last time.
One who always has time for her new niece or newphew. An aunt who is a friend and a mentor to the new child in the family.
My auntie dedicate all her time, her life for the family.

I dedicate this poem for you "NANAY".. I called her Nanay for she is my SECOND MOM!

Isn't she beautiful?

I know that pretty much everyone on the planet says this, but I really do have the most amazing mother in the entire world. Cliche, but true.

"I remember the moment that I became a mother. Not physically but spiritually. The day that I've known that I'm pregnant.. Then feel her in my womb, felt her first kick...

Then the big day come! When I first heard her cry...When they lifted her and place her in my arms.. still wet and a bit bloody after her exit from my womb.

Motherhood is a lot of work. But I wouldn't trade it in for the world!
No amount of academic preparation will make the journey to parenting a less bumpy ride, or any less joyful. We go to school for years to prepare ourselves for the work world, but nothing quite prepares you for being a mom or dad.

And I'm thankful to someone who is at my side to learn the motherhood things...my MOM! I am a daughter of a Minister of church. I grew up in a pressure situation where I was expected to look and act in a certain manner, and always had to put on a smile. But my Mom serve as my best friend and taught me not to be pressure and enjoy each day of my life. My parents taught me to love God first and foremost.

And now as a wife of a co-worker of God, I thought about the kind of mom I had and the kind of mom I wanted to be. I realized I wanted to be just like my Mom. She was an amazing role model and mentor and so many things in between.

Mom, I know we always have been and always will be first in your life and in your heart. Thank you for being you, for being our world. Now that I have a child of my own, I truly know that being a mother is the hardest job in the world and you make it look easy. You are the most wonderful grandmother, but I kind of expected that since you are the most wonderful mother. If I am just half as great of a mom to Big Squish as you are to me, I will have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

Thank you for teaching me to be myself, even in the face of adversity. Thank you for encouraging me to be true to myself and follow my dreams, and not the dreams others might have for me. Thank you for giving me a caring heart and an open mind. Thank you for teaching me why thank you notes are always important. Thank you for showing me how to be self-confident and secure, and not worry about what other people think. Thank you for teaching me how to stand up for myself and do what I know is right. Thank you for letting me make my own path. Thank you for the lessons you continue to teach me every day. Thank you for your examples, your wisdom, your patience, your guidance, your devotion, your sacrifices, your endless support, your laughter and most importantly, your love.

A Happy Mother's Day To All!

I will never forget the date we knew of our 1st baby existence...
it was MAY 19, 2005.
The common symptoms and complaints of a pregnant women especially morning sickness what made me think that I'm pregnant.
My husband is with me when I got my first checked up to confirm it and showed him the test. It took him a second to realize what he was looking at and then he was overjoyed! “We did it!” he exclaimed. And we hugged and kissed and celebrated the moment. It was amazing.

I can't sleep on our first night together, after giving birth.. I kept looking her most of the day.. look and counted her tiny fingers and toes.. I nursed her. Look her with her father sleep together.. Took many pictures of her...

JUST WANT TO SHARE THIS. I MADE A BABY SCRAPBOOK EACH OF THEM LIKE THEIR FIRST SMILE, FIRST NAIL CUT ETC. FOR ME THIS IS THE MOST PRECIOUS ONE! HOPE THEY APPRECIATE THIS WHEN THEY GROW UP..

Ohh! I burst into tears.

Motherhood is a lot of work. But I wouldn't trade it in for the world! I adore my kids.. And as I watch them grow up so quickly everyday, I wonder at God's grace, and beauty. How awesome He is creating something so wonderful.

I really do love this city I've called home for all of my years.

Today, Angeles City known as the "entertainment city" of Central Luzon and the former home of the biggest American Base lies in a threshold of change after being severely affected by the Base pull out brought about the great eruption of Mt. Pinatubo 1991. It is now rising from the ashes by putting itself back to the economic status that it once occupied and dream surpassing feats never before any city or province has ever accomplished.

Angeles City is locally classified as a first-class, highly-urbanized city.
It is near the Clark International Airport and Clark Special Economic
Zone (formerly Clark Air Base).

Getting There:
Angeles City is easily accessible by land and air.

Accommodation:
Angeles City has good numbers of decent and affordable accommodation for business and leisure travelers alike.
If you want better accommodations, try the resorts and hotels around the city.

Eating out:
Angeles has been dubbed the "Entertainment Capital of Central Luzon."
According to the Center for Kapampangan Studies, the dish sisig originated in this city and has been on the menu since the 1730s. Thus Angeles has also become well-known as the culinary center of Pampanga.

Our "katutubo's" Aetas trained as tourism tour guides for the Freeport and the Clark Special Economic Zone.
